Electrical Services in Aurora & Denver

Electrical work is where safety and code matter most, and where shortcuts have the worst consequences. BDT Construction handles the electrical that remodeling requires across the Denver metro — new circuits, panels, lighting, and code upgrades — wired safely, permitted, and inspected.

Electrical in the Denver metro

Remodels almost always add electrical load. A finished basement needs circuits, outlets, and lighting throughout. A new kitchen needs dedicated circuits for modern appliances and GFCI protection at the counters. A bathroom needs GFCI outlets, proper lighting, and an exhaust fan. We design the electrical to support how the space will actually be used and make sure the existing service can carry it.

Code compliance isn't optional with electrical, and current code is specific: AFCI protection for most living-area circuits, GFCI protection in kitchens, baths, basements, and outdoors, correct wire sizing for each load, proper grounding and bonding, and tamper-resistant receptacles. We wire to current code because it's what keeps your family and home safe — and it's what passes inspection.

Our scope includes new circuits and outlets, dedicated appliance circuits, recessed and accent lighting plans, switching and dimming, exhaust fans, panel upgrades and additions when the service needs more capacity, and bringing older or DIY wiring up to code when we find it inside a wall. We coordinate all of it with the framing and finishes so the rough-in lands right and the finish devices sit clean.

Lighting deserves real attention, especially in basements and kitchens where natural light is limited. We design layered lighting — general, task, and accent — on appropriate switching and dimming, so the finished space is bright where you need it and warm where you want it. Good lighting design is one of the most underrated parts of a remodel.

Everything is permitted and inspected. Electrical is among the most closely inspected systems for good reason, and we build it to pass the first time. You get electrical that's safe, code-compliant, and integrated into your remodel by the contractor responsible for the entire job.

Common questions

Electrical FAQ

Straight answers to what Denver-metro homeowners ask us about this service.

Does my electrical panel need an upgrade for a remodel?

It depends on your existing capacity and what you're adding. Finished basements, new kitchens, additions, and EV chargers all add load. We evaluate your panel and service, and add a sub-panel or upgrade the service only when the load actually requires it — never as an upsell.

Why do basements and kitchens need GFCI and AFCI protection?

Current electrical code requires GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and outdoors to prevent shock, and AFCI protection on most living-area circuits to prevent fires from arcing. We wire new and remodeled spaces to these standards because they're what keep your home safe and what inspectors verify.

Is your electrical work permitted and inspected?

Yes. Electrical changes require permits and inspections in Denver-metro jurisdictions because faulty wiring is a fire and shock hazard. We wire to current code, ground and bond correctly, and schedule inspections so the work is approved before it's covered.
