Concrete & Foundation Work in Aurora & Denver
Everything else in a home rests on the concrete beneath it. BDT Construction handles foundations, footings, concrete flooring, floor leveling, and drainage built specifically for Colorado's expansive clay soils and freeze-thaw cycles — the structural work that keeps the rest of the house square and dry.
Concrete & Foundation in the Denver metro
The Front Range sits on expansive soils that swell when wet and shrink when dry, which is hard on foundations. We build and repair with that reality in mind: properly sized footings below frost depth, correct reinforcement, and drainage that moves water away from the structure before it can heave a slab or crack a wall. Concrete that ignores Colorado soil doesn't last; concrete that respects it does.
Our concrete scope covers new foundations and footings for additions and structures, slab-on-grade and basement floors, garage and shop slabs, concrete flooring with modern finishes, and structural repairs. We form, reinforce, pour, and finish to spec, with control joints placed to manage the cracking that all concrete eventually wants to do.
Floor leveling is one of our most-requested services. Older Denver-area homes and settled slabs leave floors that slope, bounce, or telegraph cracks up through tile and flooring. We assess the cause — settlement, moisture, or framing — and use the right approach, from self-leveling underlayment to structural correction, so your new flooring goes down flat and stays that way.
Drainage ties it all together. Poor grading and failed drainage are behind a huge share of the foundation and basement problems we see. We correct grading, install or repair perimeter and surface drainage, and route water away from the home — protecting both the structure and any finished space below grade. Several of our drainage clients came to us through real-estate transactions that needed the work documented and done fast; we deliver on both.
Foundation and concrete work is unforgiving — it has to be right the first time, because everything built on top depends on it. You get an honest assessment of what your home actually needs, a clear written estimate, and work done to code and inspected.
Concrete & Foundation FAQ
Straight answers to what Denver-metro homeowners ask us about this service.
Why do foundations crack in Colorado?
The Front Range sits on expansive clay soils that swell with moisture and shrink when dry, putting cyclical pressure on foundations. Combined with freeze-thaw and poor drainage, that movement causes cracking and settlement. Correct footing depth, reinforcement, and drainage are how we prevent and repair it.
Can you fix uneven or sloping floors?
Yes. We first diagnose the cause — slab settlement, moisture, or framing deflection — then correct it with the right method, from self-leveling underlayment to structural repair. Leveling the floor before new flooring goes down is what keeps tile from cracking and laminate from flexing.
Do you handle drainage problems around the home?
We do. Poor grading and failed drainage cause a large share of foundation and wet-basement problems. We re-grade, install or repair perimeter and surface drainage, and route water away from the house — and we can document the work for real-estate transactions when needed.
